Manaslu(26,766 ft; 8,158 m), The World's Eight highest peak
ot a
quite popular mountain, even if it is the world's eight highest peak, Manaslu stands as a
twin peak not far from Annapurna. With its sister peaks Ganesh Himal and Himal Chuli (both
over 25,000 ft), around it, Manaslu looks like it is the highest and biggest of them
all. Flanked by the villages enroute like Manang, Manaslu seems to be a rare trekkers
dream. However, people travel to Manang to see a greater view of a massive himalayan
range, they go to the Manaslu Base camp. Manang (3,351 m), the unofficial capital of the Annapurna Region, offers spectacular views of the Annapurna and
Gangapurna looming over the town. To the south is the view of the north face of
Annapurnas, so big that it is difficult to grasp their immense scale.

Manaslu Trek (Mar-May, Sep-Oct)
Mighty Manaslu (8,156m) stands like a timeless sentry between Tibet and Nepal. This epic trip circumnavigates the entire massif. As we walk the gentle Somrie khola river valley, with its Tamang and Chhetri village, we see sal and pine forests. Next we travel high up the Buri Gandaki river shere the small villages are inhabitated by Sherpa people. In Sansgaon athe people are gurung, living in a Sherpa lifestyle and speaking Sherpa/Gurung language. The landscape becomes more barren and th eonly visible inhabitants are the crows and eagles overhead. A fine trip for those seeking an unspoilt, tranquil Himal.
